KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State track and field teams have swept the Atlantic Sun Track Performer of the Week Awards. Joyce Mattagliano won her first weekly outdoor award for her performance in the 800m-dash at the Florida Relays. She placed third amongst collegiate athletes in the event with a time of 2:06.04, which leads the conference by 5.07 seconds and is good for third best in the NCAA Region. The freshman, also ran on the 4x400m relay team which grabbed a school record in the preliminaries with a time of 3:41.00 which leads the A-Sun by 13.18 seconds. The team finished sixth in the 4x400m relay final with a time of 3:43.10.
"Joyce continues to have an outstanding freshman campaign," Director of Track and Field and Cross Country
Andy Eggerth said. "She pushes herself really hard, so it is very pleasing to watch her that hard work pay off and her to be recognized accordingly."
Drew Duggans won his first Outdoor Athlete of the Week Award by setting a new A-Sun leading mark and school record in the 100m-dash with a time of 10.44. That time is currently tied for 28
th in the nation and tied for 16
th in the East Region. Duggans also ran on the 4x100m relay team which finished 13
th overall with a time of 40.64, which currently leads the A-Sun. He also was a part of the 4x400 relay team which leads the A-Sun with a time of 3:12.40 and was good for 13
th overall.
Drew is supremely talented," Eggerth said. 'I'm glad to see him run well and be noticed for his accomplishments."
This week, the Owls will participate in the North Florida Twilight in Jacksonville, Florida on April 10
th.
