KENNESAW, Ga. – Three athletes on the Kennesaw State men and women's track and field teams have been named to the Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference team.
Alicia Whittle was named to the team on the women's side and
Rasmus Rooks and
Joseph Yates were named to the team on the men's side.
"What an outstanding list of Student Athletes," Director of Track and Field
Andy Eggerth said. "We really push academics hard from the first day of recruiting a prospective student-athlete. Yet there's so few people that really excel athletically, academically, socially, and spiritually that I'm particularly pleased when our student-athletes shine in all areas of their life. This is a very elite group that should be extremely proud of their accomplishments!"
Whittle graduated with a 3.75 GPA while majoring in Communications. She claimed three gold medals and a silver medal during the Outdoor Championships. After finishing second in the 4x100m relay, Whittle responded winning the 100m-dash in 11.57. She would return to the track later in the evening and collect gold medals in the 200m-dash and the 4x400m relay. She finished with the sixth most points at the championship with 24.50 points.
On the men's side, Rooks has a 3.71 GPA majoring in Exercise Science. At the A-Sun Championships, he totaled the eighth most points with 19.5. His highlights were winning the gold medal in the 4x100 relay and the long jump and finishing third in the 100m-dash.
