MG: Jimmy Beck Selected to PING Division I All-Southeast Region Team

Recent Kennesaw State Grad Three-Time Honoree

Official Release (PDF)

SARASOTA, Fla. – Recent Kennesaw State graduate Jimmy Beck was one of 155 players across six regions to be named to a Division I PING all-region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), the organization announced on Saturday (May 30).

It marks the third consecutive year that Beck has been honored by the GCAA as he was one of 29 players selected to the Southeast Region team. He is the program's first three-time honoree and one of three Kennesaw State players to be recognized, joining Jeff Karlsson (2011) and Matt Nagy (2012).

Beck, who concluded a brilliant collegiate career two weeks ago at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, led Kennesaw State with a 71.15 stroke average that ranks second all-time in program history. He also recorded eight Top 20 and a team-leading seven Top 10 showings during his senior year. The Columbus, Ga. native also topped the team with 21 rounds at par or better, 10 rounds in the 60s and 17 rounds under par.

During his four years at Kennesaw State, Beck produced a 72.72 scoring average that ranks No. 1 among KSU players who have concluded their collegiate careers. He carded 58 rounds at even par or better while playing a school-second 134 rounds and helping the Owls to four straight NCAA regionals and the 2014 finals in Hutchinson, Kan.

Beck's excellence was not only reserved for the course as he also excelled academically, twice being named Atlantic Sun Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year following his junior and senior years.

This week marked another milestone for Beck, who along with KSU teammate Kelby Burton, made his professional debut. Competing on the eGolf Gateway Tour, Beck made the cut at the Biggs Cadillac Buick GMC Open in Hertford, N.C. The Kennesaw State alum has posted rounds of 68-69-66 for a 10-under par total of 203 and is currently tied for fourth heading into Sunday's final round at The Sound Golf Links at Albemarie Plantation.
