Full Release With PlayersTUSCON, Ariz. – Kennesaw State redshirt-freshman standout
Taylor Allum added to his collection of postseason awards on Wednesday afternoon being named to the Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team, Collegiate Baseball announced on June 3.
A breakout season for Allum, who is a Grayson, Georgia native, also earned several Atlantic Sun Conference awards. The freshman was named to the A-Sun All-Academic Team, Second Team All-Conference and the All-Freshmen team, which was announced in late May.
"As a coaching staff and from a program, we are extremely happy for Taylor for being honored with this prestigious award," head coach
Mike Sansing said. "His work ethic in the weight room, on the field and in the classroom has paid off and I'm extremely happy for him. It's a great accomplishment and the amount of time and effort he has put in has paid off."
Allum became a pivotal part of the Owls' lineup, making 35 starts in 41 games primarily as a right fielder and designated hitter. The redshirt-freshman batted .320, totaling 39 hits, eight doubles, two home runs and 19 RBI. Allum also played extremely well throughout A-Sun action, batting an incredible .415 in 65 at-bats –which ranked first on KSU's roster. He also compiled five doubles, one home run and 10 RBI in conference action. Allum also played well defensively, compiled 62 putouts and two assists making just four errors on the season –which totaled a .941 fielding percentage.
The soon-to-be sophomore is currently playing his summer ball in for the Gastonia Grizzlies in the Coastal Plain League.
