ApplicationThe Kennesaw State Department of Athletics would like to officially announce the launching of its FlightPlan, a new program for student-athletes aimed at preparing them for life after sports. The FlightPlan includes steps that students will take each year to prepare for the workforce after earning their degree. KSU wants its student-athletes to find their passion and explore career options early which helps them to be more engaged in their coursework.
A key component of the FlightPlan includes connecting student-athletes with local employers who are willing to offer internships, part-time or temporary employment, or by simply providing career coaching. Each level has its value, but internships are critical in helping any student get valuable job experience. Area businesses can help identify opportunities for student-athletes, whether it is career coaching, a flexible job to help them with college expenses, or a valuable paid or unpaid internship.
Initial contact with KSU's FlightPlan begins with the employer submitting the online interest application at
ksuowls.com/flightplan.
"The Career Services Center is excited about the FlightPlan and collaborating with the Department of Athletics in this joint venture to impact student-athletes as they pursue their career," Michael Dutcher, Associate Director of Career Services.
"We are in a great location for this,"
Vaughn Williams, Director of Athletics, said. "The metro Atlanta area is one of the strongest markets in the nation, and there are so many career opportunities for our student-athletes. Engaging with employers is a win-win for athletes and employers alike. Student-athletes are often in demand by employers because they bring transferable skills to the workplace, such as time management, coachability, competitiveness, and grit."
The FlightPlan is a part of the OWLS Champions Initiative presented by Henssler Financial. We need your help in getting the FlightPlan off the ground! You can learn more and sign up to participate by going to
