KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's
Bilal Abdullah swept the Atlantic Sun Men's Indoor Track and Field weekly awards for the second time this season following his performance at the UAB Vulcan Invitational the conference announced Wednesday.
"As I watched Bilal's passion and work ethic this fall I could tell that he was going to have an outstanding year.," director of track and field and cross country coach
Andy Eggerth said. "He's done a great job of focusing on the process and the results are taking care of themselves."
Abdullah took home two first place finishes at the UAB Vulcan Invite. He won the long jump with a new meet and school record jump of 7.98m (26-2.25). That jump is the currently the longest in the nation, is the longest in KSU history, is second longest in the world, and leads the A-Sun by nearly two feet. The senior ran a meet record time of 7.90 in the 60m hurdles preliminary round to win his heat. He finished was the top collegian in the finals in 7.90 seconds. That time of 7.90 seconds, established a new meet record, is the fastest in KSU history, is currently tied for thirteenth fastest in the nation, and is also tops in the Atlantic Sun.
Abdullah and some of the Owls combine eventers will return to action on January 22-23, 2016 at the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana.
