KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State sophomore
Jordan Gray and junior De'Von Robinson swept the Atlantic Sun Indoor Track and Field weekly awards following their performances in the pentathlon at the Gladtein Invitational the conference announced Wednesday.
"Jordan and De'Von are also feeling the toll of three consecutive weeks of competition which was visible in their hurdles and long jump performances, but they still showed their talent and quality preparation put in to power out strong overall pentathlon scores," director of track and field and cross country
Andy Eggerth said. "Both of these ladies are talented, but I'm particularly proud of how hard they've worked all fall. As we unload their training they should both be over 4000 points in the pentathlon with long jumps over 6m and multiple other strong event areas. Like the guys, these ladies have a strong culture within their training group to push everyone to higher levels."
Gray was named the A-Sun Indoor field performer of the week for her performance in the pentathlon field events. She finished second overall in the pentathlon with 3497 points which leads the A-Sun and is third most in school history and is currently 27
th best in the country this season. She picked up three top-four finishes in the field event portion of the pentathlon. She tied for the win the in the high jump after a clearance of 1.65m (5'5) which is second best in the A-Sun. The sophomore grabbed a third place a finish in the shot put with a toss of 11.41m (37'5.25). She closed out the day with a fourth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.41m (17'9).
Johnson, who was named A-Sun Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, also competed in the pentathlon at the Gladstein Invitational finishing with 3342 points which is second best in the A-Sun this season. She flew to a third place finish in the 60m hurdles in 8.90 seconds. She finished fourth in the 800m in 2:41.08
Gray and Robinson will rest this weekend. Many of their Owls teammates will be back in action at the Thundering Herd Invite on Friday January 29ndand Saturday January 30 at the Thundering Herd Invite hosted by Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.
