Atlantic Sun ReleaseKENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State's
Andre Dorsey and
Terrell Singleton swept the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week awards for their strong performances at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational the conference announced Wednesday.
"Our team had a great showing this weekend which is shown by sweeping the ASUN weekly awards on the men's side," Director of Track and Field and Cross Country
Andy Eggerth said. This is a great lead into the main competitive portion of our season competing at the Virginia Challenge, Drake Relays, and the A-Sun Championships."
Dorsey, who was named A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week for third time this season, won the long jump with a school record breaking jump of 7.87m (25'10). That jump currently leads the Atlantic Sun Conference and is sixth best in the NCAA this season.
"Andre's been on fire this outdoor season and continues to improve with each meet. I believe this is his second or third weekly award this season which shows the type of year he's having," Eggerth said.
Singleton was named A-Sun Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 110m hurdles race in 14.99. He also finished second in the 400 hurdles in 54.31 seconds.
"Terrell didn't post a great time this weekend but was running into a stiff headwind, still good enough to win the competition. Coach Campbell has done a great job this season working with Terell and I am excited to see his improvement through the rest of the season."
The Owls will compete at the South Alabama Invitational April 14-16 in Mobile, Alabama.
