THE STORYLINE:Â
· Lipscomb snapped Kennesaw State's eight-game Atlantic Sun Conference win streak, defeating the Owls in a dramatic extra-inning tilt, 11-9, in 13 innings at Stillwell Stadium Sunday afternoon to avoid a series sweep.
· Even with the loss, Kennesaw State equaled the best start after four league series since 2014 when Lipscomb and Mercer each started 10-2 in conference action and took 2-of-3 from the Bisons.
· With the loss, KSU dropped to 20-21 overall and 10-2 in conference play, while Lipscomb improved to 20-20 overall and 4-5 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
·  Lipscomb lit up the scoreboard first in the series finale, plating three runs in the first and a single run in the second to take a 4-0 lead.
· The Bisons maintained their lead throughout the entire ballgame until the Owls rallied back with three dramatic runs in the bottom of the ninth to push the game to extras.
· Lipscomb held leads of five, four and three throughout the contest, but could not hold off the Owls' eight-run rally over the final six frames to push things to extra innings.
· Down 8-5, sophomore
Griffin Helms knocked in his second RBI of the game to pull KSU within 8-6 with two outs. KSU followed his lead when
Grant Williams walked and
Austin Upshaw –who extended his hitting streak to 11 games—knocked a double to place runners on second and third.
· Down two with two outs, senior
Brennan Morgan followed with a single to plate the game-tying two runs in dramatic fashion.
· However, after both teams went scoreless in the 10
th, Lipscomb plated the go-ahead run with an RBI double to take a 9-8 lead.
· Down one in the bottom of the 11
th, it was Morgan again with a clutch game-tying home run for his third RBI of the game to once again tie things up at 9-9.
· Lipscomb scored the go-ahead runs in the top of the 13
th inning that proved to be enough to win the series finale in marathon fashion.
