MACON, Ga. – Kennesaw State junior
Taylor Denton was one of 10 individuals named to the 2016 Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic Softball Team that was announced on Monday (May 9).

Denton becomes Kennesaw State's first two-time A-Sun Conference all-academic selection and third individual to be honored. She was named to the all-academic team as a sophomore in 2015.

A native of Grayson, Ga., Denton is having an outstanding season and has continued to excel in the classroom, compiling a 3.72 grade-point average while majoring in integrative studies.

On the field, Denton leads the Owls with a .323 average, 27 runs scored, 51 hits and a single-season program-record 31 stolen bases. She has recorded a .448 average and 13 stolen bases in conference play. She also became Kennesaw State's career stolen base leader with her 61st steal Saturday against Lipscomb.

Lipscomb led all teams with three selections, while Jacksonville's Victoria Brown was named scholar-athlete of the year.

Kennesaw State departs today (Monday) for Fort Myers, Fla., where it will open play in the A-Sun Conference Tournament on Wednesday (May 11) when it meets Lipscomb in a first-round game beginning at 5:30 p.m. (ET). Â
