Previewing the Runnin' Bulldogs in 2016
Gardner-Webb and Kennesaw State met last season with the Owls pulling out at 12-7 victory at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. They meet again in Boiling Springs, N.C., on Saturday, Oct. 22 at noon in a game that can be seen on the American Sports Network. Returning for the Runnin' Bulldogs is leading passer/rusher quarterback Tyrell Maxwell who had a monster season throwing for 997 yards with seven touchdowns and rushing for 794 yards with four touchdowns. Also back is first-team All-Big South TE Mike Estes, who reeled in 353 yards and five touchdowns in 2015. On the defensive side, All-Conference LB Chad Geter is back after leading the team with 92 tackes and five sacks last season.
Justin Thompson's four field goals were KSU's only points in last year's 12-7 win over Gardner-Webb.
