Shaquil Terry earned Big South Conference weekly awards, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
McKenzie, a Monroeville, Ala., native, --who secured the Owls' 42-28 victory over Liberty Saturday night with a 30-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarterā finished the evening with a career-high 111 yards on 18 carries to earn Big South Conference Offensive Player of the Week. He averaged 6.2 yards per carry and gained 45 key yards as part of a 12-play, 75-yard drive that milked 5:53 key minutes late in the fourth quarter to help KSU top the Flames.
Terry, a Bessemer, Ala., native, contributed a career-high 126 rushing yards on nine carries and a touchdown as part of Kennesaw State's single-game program record 498 rushing yards. His 26-yard outburst in the second quarter pushed the lead to 21-7 and helped him earn Big South's Freshman of the Week honors. Terry has three touchdowns this season and is averaging 49.3 yards on those plays.
Kennesaw State (5-1, 1-0 Big South) enters Saturday with a program-best five-game winning streak as it continues Big South Conference action welcoming Gardner-Webb to The Nest. KSU has out-scored opponents 175-93 during the five-game winning streak, averaging 432.4 yards per game and 35 points. Saturday's game can be seen live on ESPN3 or heard on ESPN Radio 1230 and 106.3 The Fan 2. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET.Ā
