KENNESAW, Ga. – Former Kennesaw State baseball standout catcher Max Pentecost, who won the prestigious Johnny Bench Award in 2014 and became the Owls' highest draft pick in program history 11
th overall, recently was named to the West Roster for the Arizona Fall League All-Star Game.
The 12
th edition of the Fall Stars Game will take place at Salt River Fields at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) Saturday evening in Scottsdale, Arizona. The contest will be aired on MLB Network and streamed live on MLB.com.
Pentecost played in 71 games for the Dunedin Blue Jays, the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays Major League Baseball club, batting .276 (79-for-286) compiling 14 doubles, two triples, nine home runs and 54 runs batted in.
During the historic 2014 season, Pentecost led the nation in total hits (113) and was second in batting average (.422), both setting an new ASUN and KSU single-season records. Of his 113 hits, 24 were doubles with nine home runs and a pair of triples to go with 61 runs batted in and 168 total bases. The backstop also caught 22 runners attempting to steal.
He led the Owls to their first-ever ASUN and NCAA Division-I Regional Titles. Pentecost was named to five separate First Team All-American lists while also being named the ASUN Player of the Year.
