KENNESAW, Ga. – For the third consecutive week and the fourth time in program's three-year history, the Kennesaw State football team is ranked in the Top 25. The Owls, who are 9-1 overall and have won a school-record nine straight games, climbed the FCS Coaches and STATS FCS poll to No. 21 and No. 22, respectively.
The Owls (9-1, 4-0) set a single-season program record nine wins after their impressive 38-0 victory over Charleston Southern last week. KSU's 38-point win over the Buccaneers marked the largest margin of victory over a Big South Conference opponent in program history. The win snapped Charleston Southern's Big South record nine-game road winning streak and remained undefeated at home in 2017.
Kennesaw State's No. 21 ranking is the highest in program history.
During this nine-game winning streak, Kennesaw State is averaging 30.4 points and 426.4 total yards of offense per game. The nation's top rushing team enters Saturday averaging 332.4 yards per game, having rushed for 300 or more yards in seven straight games.
Last season, when the Owls earned their first Top 25 ranking at No. 22, the team was 8-2 heading into the regular-season finale at Charleston Southern. The team has been receiving votes or ranked inside the Top 25 in each of the polls the entire season.
The Big South Conference Championship is up for grabs as No. 21 Kennesaw State (9-1,4-0) hosts No. 22 Monmouth (9-1, 4-0) in The Nest in a winner take all showdown. The Owls and Hawks earns the Big South Championship and secures an automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs. The Battle of the Birds is scheduled to kickoff at 2 p.m. on ESPN3. Senior Day at The Bank can also be heard on ESPN Radio 1230 and 106.3.
Fifth Third Bank is the Official Bank of Kennesaw State Athletics. Fifth Third Bank Stadium, the signature athletics landmark on the Kennesaw State University campus, is a world-class facility that has been recognized as one of the premier multi-use outdoor athletics venues in the country. In the fall of 2015, it become the official home of Owls football team and is home to Owls soccer and lacrosse as well.
