2018 Schedule

KENNESAW, Ga. – Six teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago highlight the 2018 Kennesaw State softball schedule that was announced by head coach Pete D'Amour on Thursday (Nov. 30).

Coming off a 40-win campaign and a postseason appearance last season, the Owls will play a combined six games against teams from the SEC and ACC, including Arkansas (SEC), which will serve as KSU's season-opening opponent in the Lion Classic hosted by Southeastern Louisiana on Feb. 9.

"This shapes up to be a challenging schedule for us. We start off on the road which will get us out of our comfort zone a little bit," D'Amour said. "Our three home tournaments will provide good tests for us and, hopefully, the non-conference schedule will prepare us for another challenging year in a competitive ASUN Conference."

Kennesaw State will play its first 10 games on the road, opening the season at the Lion Classic before traveling to Kissimmee, Fla., for the Orange Blossom Tournament. The Owls will compete in six tournaments during the season.

Following two weeks on the road, Kennesaw State makes its home debut in the Bobbie Bailey Memorial Tournament that opens with a pair of games against Rutgers at Bailey Park beginning Feb. 23.

The Bobbie Bailey Memorial Tournament represents one of three tournaments the Owls will host during the year. The Interstate 75 Challenge (March 2-4) and the Phyllis Rafter Memorial Tournament (March 9-11) will also be played at Bailey Park.

Kennesaw State will play 28 of its 56 games at home, including contests against Mercer (March 11), Georgia State (March 14) and Georgia Tech (April 11). The Yellow Jackets will once again be the Owls' opponent for the annual Lexi's Day Game.

KSU opens its 18-game ASUN Conference schedule on March 17 when it travels to Spartanburg, S.C. to face defending conference champion USC Upstate in a three-game series. North Florida will be the first ASUN opponent to visit Bailey Park when the Ospreys fly north for a three-game series beginning March 30.

Kennesaw State's non-conference schedule also includes road contests at Georgia (March 28) and Auburn (April 4), a pair of SEC opponents who advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2017.

The ASUN Conference Championship opens May 9 on the campus of Stetson University in DeLand, Fla.

The Owls enter 2018 looking to build upon a 40-20 overall record, second place finish in the ASUN Conference, and its first postseason appearance since moving to the NCAA Division level in 2006. KSU also concluded 2017 ranked No. 46 in the final RPI rankings – a program-best at the Division I level.

The Owls earned the No. 1 overall seed in the inaugural National Invitational Softball Championship (NISC), captured the Region 5 title and advanced to the semifinals.
