KENNESAW, Ga. – The list of honors for defender
Abby Roth continues to grow as she was recognized with another accolade on Thursday (Dec. 14) following the announcement of the 2017 United Soccer Coaches (USC) NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-South Region Teams.
Â
The Kennesaw State senior was one of 11 players named to the first team, marking the initial time a KSU women's soccer student-athlete has been recognized by the coaches' organization.
Â
"We're extremely proud of Abby and applaud her for dedication to her academics, sport and teammates, and she is very deserving of this recognition," head coach
Benji Walton said. "To be recognized alongside such outstanding student-athletes from the ACC and SEC is quite an accomplishment and serves as a great representation of Kennesaw State University and our soccer program."
Â
Roth currently maintains a 3.71 grade-point average while majoring in mathematics. The latest honor joins a growing list of accolades for Roth that also includes USC Second Team All-Southeast Region, first team ASUN All-Conference and ASUN All-Academic Team, in addition to twice being named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
Â
The Columbus, Ga. native and team captain helped the Owls to an 8-7-4 record and a semifinal appearance in the ASUN Conference Championship.
