KENNESAW, Ga. -- Kennesaw State football head coach Brian Bohannon announced the Owls' December Early Signing Day Class on Wednesday, December 20. Six future Owls were introduced, including five of the six signees from outside the state of Georgia.

The Owls are coming off a program-record 12-2 overall campaign and became the first team to advance to the quarterfinals in just its third year of existence. The 12 wins tied a Big South Conference single-season record, and its appearance in the FCS Playoffs quarterfinals marked the farthest a KSU team has advanced in the NCAA postseason since moving to the Division I level in 2005-06.
 
"I can't express how excited we are as a staff to announce this great group of young men joining us on National Signing Day," said Bohannon. "I want to thank each member of our staff for the hard work they put in to bring these young men to Kennesaw State. It's a tribute to this University and everything going on here that we're able to bring this caliber of student-athletes here."
 
CLASS NOTES:

• This class includes two offensive lineman, a wide receiver, a defensive end, a defensive back and a linebacker.
• Five of the six are from outside the state of Georgia.
• Tyler Moore played with current Owls Demetrius Pettway and Jaxton Carson at Central High School, both who signed with KSU last February.

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letter winner at Florida High School under head coach Jarrod Hickman…Hauled in 791 receiving yards and 50 receptions his senior year…Averaged 15.8 yards per catch and 60.8 receiving yards per game…Scored six touchdowns in 2017…On defense, he totaled 43 tackles in 13 games to go along with 3.0 sacks and three interceptions his senior season…Named 2017 Receiver of the Year by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club … Twice named Impact Player of the Week by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club…As a junior, he caught 34 passes for 550 yards and five touchdowns ...Also competed in four seasons of wrestling.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played four years of football for coach Scott Blade at Independence High School …Two-year starter on the offensive line …Was a defensive lineman as a sophomore … Help guide the team to a 41-12 record in four seasons, including a 15-0 campaign as a sophomore and a Class 5A State Championship.

PERSONAL: Full name is Zion J. Stone Katina…Born on February 10, 2000 in Nashville, Tenn.,…Son of John and Sharee Katina … Has four siblings named Jett, River, Steele and Blaze … Dad and four Uncles play in a popular Christian rock group known as the Katinas…Has not decided on what he will major in at Kennesaw State.
