Brian Bohannon Opening Statement
Awfully glad to be playing football in December with eight teams remaining out of 124 and you couldn't ask for a better opportunity for our team at this time of the year. We get to go on the road and play a football team with a lot of tradition. They are 12-0 at home in playoff games. When you get down to eight teams, they are all talented and Sam Houston State is just that. They have a quarterback that is one of the three finalist for the Walter Payton Award. All the teams are good at this time of the year. Offensively, their numbers are staggering and averaging 46 points per game is impressive. I expect a Texas football team able to run and be athletic, and that is exactly what you see when you turn the tape on. Coach K.C. Keeler has done a great job and they have won a lot of football games. Hopefully we can go play the best football game we can play and give us an opportunity to go compete. It's a great opportunity and great time to be playing at this time of the year.
On the Fans at Jacksonville State
Our kids came ready to play Saturday. I think our fans are starting to feel the same thing our kids feel and it's becoming contagious. They're excited and the fans got excited and got into it. When we got ahead on the road at Jacksonville State, it really became a unique situation on the road that doesn't happen very often.
Thoughts on the Season and Playoff Run
I think we are supposed to win every game. I always think everything is possible. We always plan for everything. I never said there was a schedule when we started this thing, but wanted to get better every day. I didn't know where we would be in year three, but I did say enough maturity and deep enough to have a chance to compete. To these kids credit, they just continue to play and no situation or moments have got the best of them and they just continue to play. Good things have happened and hopefully we can continue this ride.
