Nashville, Tenn. –The Kennesaw State Track & Field teams opened action at their final regular season meet at the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt University.
 
Competing against some of the nation's best programs the Owls posted some solid performances on day one of the meet.
 
"So far, this has been a pretty good final tune up prior to conference," said Director of Track & Field Andy Eggerth. "Three of our distance ladies ran huge lifetime bests in the 5k.  Our throwers, vaulters, and horizontal jumpers are developing consistency at the top of their season marks.  Dayo was a standout, triple jumping a lifetime best and his first time over 50 feet indoor.  And several of our athletes that raced the 200m ran lifetime bests or indoor personal records."
 

 
Men's Highlights

• Dayo Akindele recorded a personal and conference-best jump of 15.35m (50'4.5) in the triple jump to finish third. That jump is fourth farthest in indoor program history.
• Freshman Christian Ellis had a season best jump of 14.51m (47'7.25) in the triple jump to finish eighth.  
• Fabeon Tucker had a toss in the weight throw of 18.35m (60'4), which was good for eighth.
• Reigning ASUN Field Athlete of the Week , Hunter Arnold finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.90m (16'0.75) to tie for eighth.
• Also in the pole vault, Brenton Rosa posted a mark of 4.75m (15'7), which was good for tenth.

 Women's Highlights

• Shakedra Robinson was sixth in the high jump after clearing 1.67m (5'5.75).
• Morgan Campbell posted a team and season-best jump of 12.23m (40'1.5) in the triple jump to finish 13^th. That jump is tied for the third longest in indoor program history.
• Maileka Slayton sprinted to a 20^th-place finish in the 200m in 24.94 in her season debut.
• Kidan Kidane posted the fifth-fastest time in program history in the 5000m of 17:16.45 which was good for 13^th.
• Caitlyn Farrell (18:04.49), Lexi Froh (18:07.78) and Bonnie McKinnon(18:20.71) all ran career-best times in the 5K.

The Owls return to action Saturday at the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt University.
