KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's
Hunter Arnold and
Jordan Gray swept the ASUN Conference Indoor Field weekly awards following their performance at the Crimson Elite and the BU Scarlet and White Meet the conference announced Wednesday.
Arnold competed in the pole vault at the Crimson Elite and Scarlet and White meets over the weekend. He set the new indoor school record with a vault of 4.95m (16'2.75) to finish second at the Crimson Elite meet. That vault leads the ASUN conference by 0.20m. The Kennesaw, Ga. native took home a third place finish at the Scarlet and White meet with a vault of 4.90m (16'0.75).
"Hunter has been vaulting at school record bars all year," director of track and field and cross country
Andy Eggerth said. "He's been taking care of business and the results are showing. I'm confident that he'll be consistently vaulting over five meters very soon here and I'm thrilled for his success and recognition!"
Gray competed in the both the shot put and the long jump at the Crimson Elite meet. Gray recorded her indoor career-best indoor leap of 5.93m (19'5.5) to grab a third place finish in the event. That jump leads the ASUN by .03m. She finished seventh in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 13.16m (43'2.25) to finish seventh overall.
"I'm really pleased for Jordan,"Eggerth said. "She is one of the hardest workers on our team and one of the most disciplined student-athletes. It was nice seeing her take her first long jump of the season and lead the conference tying her PR, but I was more pleased with her shot put. We've spent a lot of time this fall working on the throws, so to throw over a half meter PR and be the 5th best thrower in the conference weighing in at only 145lbs is very impressive."
The Owls will return to action on February 10-11 at the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee.
