KENNESAW, Ga. --Â HERO Sports, a publication covering FCS college football, has announced its
Top 50 recruiting classes for 2017 with Kennesaw State earning a spot at No. 10. The
Owls inked 13 incoming freshmen last week on National Signing Day.

Leading the Kennesaw State class were a pair of running backs --
Antavius Grier, who checked in at No. 44 on HERO Sports' list of Top 250 signees, and
Jaxton Carson at No. 51. Also ranked among the Top 250 were OL
Samuel Collins (No. 177), DE
Evan Reese (No. 186), DB
Demetrius Pettway (Np. 215), and DE
Travis Bell (No. 230).

The nation's Top 10 overall classes included FCS powers James Madison (No. 2), North Dakota State (No. 3), Sam Houston (No. 4), Eastern Washington (No. 6), Jacksonville State (No. 7) and Villanova (No. 9).

Other Big South Conference programs mentioned were Monmouth at No. 29, Charleston Southern at No. 32 and Liberty at No. 40.

HERO Sports' ranking reflected high school recruits only. Transfers were not considered.

The Owls are coming off an 8-3 season in 2016 and return 17 starters for next season. Spring practice begins February 24 with the Owls' annual Spring Game set for Friday, March 24 at 7 p.m. at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
Fifth Third Bank is the Official Bank of Kennesaw State Athletics. Fifth Third Bank Stadium, the signature athletics landmark on the Kennesaw State University campus, is a world-class facility that has been recognized as one of the premier multi-use outdoor athletics venues in the country. In the fall of 2015, it became the official home of Owls football team and is also home to Owls soccer and lacrosse.
