KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State men's basketball player Nick Masterson has been recognized as one of the top student-athletes in the country by being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in District 4.

Masterson is a mechanical engineering major with a 3.45 GPA in his junior season. He is one of 42 student-athletes to be honored across the country in eight geographic districts.

"It's always a great accomplishment when a young man at the Division I level is able to balance the challenges of basketball and the challenge of excelling academically," head coach Al Skinner said. "It's something that should be acknowledged and Nick has earned that and worked extremely hard in both areas. I'm very happy for him and it's something that not only he, but everyone else around him, should be very proud of."

On the court, Masterson has been having a great season leading the nation in three-point field goal percentage hitting 50.7 percent of his attempts and is second on the team making 70 three pointers. He's averaging 12.5 points per game and has scored in double figures in 15 games.

He is the first Kennesaw State men's basketball player to receive this honor.

Masterson now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

As a team, Kennesaw State has five games remaining in the regular season starting tonight at Stetson. The Owls have three home games at the end of the month starting on Thursday, February 16 against Jacksonville.
