Kennesaw, Ga – Director of Track and Field and Cross Country
Andy Eggerth announced the 2017 outdoor schedule for track and field on Wednesday, March 14.
Kennesaw State track and field will open the season with a pair of meets on Friday and Saturday (Mar.24-25). Six combined eventers will open their outdoor season at the Joe Walker Invitational hosted by Ole Miss, while the rest of the team will compete at the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State. KSU will then head to the Pepsi Florida Relays (Mar.30-Apr.1). The Owls will compete at the North Florida Invitational (Apr.8) and the Virginia Challenge (Apr.21-22). KSU will close out the regular season on Friday (Apr.28) at the WCU Invitational hosted by Western Carolina.
The ASUN Championships (May 12-13) will be held in Jacksonville, Florida on the campus of the University of North Florida. The NCAA Championships East Preliminary Round (May 25-27) will take place in Lexington, Kentucky, while the NCAA Championships (Jun.7-10) are scheduled for Eugene, Oregon.
"We have a very nice schedule laid out," Eggerth said. "We'll open the season trying to get some NCAA qualifying marks right off the bat. Our combined event athletes will perform their art in the decathlon/heptathlon at Ole Miss, while the majority of the team competes at the Raleigh Relays which is a historical meet and one of the best distance competitions in the country each year. The following weekend we'll head to the speed/power mecca of the Florida Relays where we hope to break some school records. We'll spend spring break in Jacksonville, FL and compete at UNF to preview the facility for the Conference Championship. Following a week off we have been invited to compete in the Virginia challenge once again. This is a very competitive meet that continues to grow in stature. Western Carolina will offer a final opportunity for our student-athletes to qualify for ASUN and then we're into championship season with Conference, NCAA's, and the US National Championship."
