KENNESAW, Ga. – The hard work and time spent on the recruiting trail has paid off for the Kennesaw State women's basketball program as head coach Agnus Berenato announced the signing of three talented recruits to National Letters of Intent and one individual to a Grant-In-Aid during the April signing period that began last Wednesday.
 
Berenato announced the signing of Caroline Dan (Falkonergaarden Gymnasium / Copenhagen, Denmark), Erin Freeman (Giles County High School / Pulaski, Tenn.) and Janae Omusi (Saddleback College / San Diego, Calif.) to letters of intent, while Simina Avram (Georgia Tech / Brasov, Romania) has signed a Grant-In-Aid.
 
The current signees add to an already highly regarded group of recruits that Berenato inked during the early signing period. Brianna Dixon (Duluth High School / Duluth, Ga.), Breanna Hoover (Blackhawk High School / Beaver Falls, Pa.), Lexi Mann (Greater Atlanta Christian School / Stone Mountain, Ga.) and Alexis Poole (Stockbridge High School / Ellenwood, Ga.) signed in November.
 
The most recent group of signees includes a Tennessee District 12 2A Most Valuable Player, California junior college conference Most Valuable Player and a pair of individuals with international playing experience.
 
"I am super excited with our 'First Class, First Class' that my staff worked hard to sign. We have attracted quality student-athletes who will have an immediate impact on KSU women's basketball," Berenato said. "I look forward to coaching this group of talented ladies both on the court and in the classroom.
 
"Every position will now have depth and we will battle every day to improve our individual skill as well as our team mentality," Berenato added. "The best thing about this 'First Class, First Class' is each individual knows how to win. Every member has played in a state championship, all-star game or participated in postseason play." 
 
A breakdown of the entire eight-person recruiting class includes three guards (Dixon, Freeman, Hoover) three forwards (Omusi, Mann, Poole) and two centers (Avram, Dan).

Simina Avram (Georgia Tech / Brasov, Romania)
A transfer from Georgia Tech . . . Appeared in 41 games during three years with the Yellow Jackets . . . Career highlight included personal-high nine points and three rebounds versus Loyola-Chicago during sophomore season . . . Play was limited to seven games during the 2016-17 campaign due to a broken hand . . . Prep Career:  Played for CSS Brasovia and Olimpia SCU Brasov . . . Placed second in national championship while part of Brasov U23 team . . . Also a member of Romania's junior national team . . . Played for Romania in Division B U20 European Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria . . . Competed for Romania in the U18 European Championship . . . Averaged 4.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game during 2013 U20 European Championship.

"I am very excited to have Simi join our team and bring her international and collegiate experience to KSU. Simi will have the opportunity to work on conditioning, weights, individual skill and our system while she sits out next season. She is a big body who will defend in the paint, but also can score on the block and is capable of making the free-throw line jump shot. She will help in our leadership area." 
 
 Caroline Dan (Center, Falkonergaarden Gymnasium / Copenhagen, Denmark)
Considered one of the top post prospects coming out of Copenhagen . . . Averaged a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds . . . Plays for Stevnsgade club team in Denmark and was part of 2015 and 2016 Cup Championship teams . . . Stevnsgade reached the semifinals in 2014 . . . Volunteers in her local community by teaching basketball at nearby elementary schools.

"Caroline is a strong center who runs the floor well. She has excellent post moves, can score around the basket and loves the high post. Playing in Denmark has prepared Caroline for the play of the ASUN Conference. Caroline will add much needed height and depth to our team."

Erin Freeman (Guard, 5-8 / Giles County High School / Pulaski, Tenn.)
Scored over 1,200 points during prep career . . . Tabbed the District 12-AA Most Valuable Player after helping Giles County High School to the District 12-AA regular-season championship as a senior . . . Named to the District 12-AA all-tournament team . . . A two-time all-district and all region selection . . . Selected the Tennessee Top High School Performer four times during senior campaign . . . Helped Giles County HS to a 23-9 overall record, including an 11-1 district record as a senior.
 
Berenato on Freeman
"Erin is the best-kept secret in the South. She is a tremendous mid-range player who has great court awareness. Erin is quick off the dribble for the jump shot and can complete the difficult pass. Defensively, she will help us with our ball pressure and trapping, likes to run and will push the break."  

Jane Omusi (Forward, 6-0 / Saddleback College / Horizon Christian Academy High School / San Diego, Calif.)
Averaged 19.8 points and 9.2 rebounds a contest while helping Saddleback College to a 21-10 record, marking the Gauchos' first 20-win season in nine years . . . Led the Orange Empire Conference in scoring en route to earning conference Most Valuable Player and first team all-conference honors . . . Scored in double figures in 28 of 31 games (including the last 16) and had 13 double-doubles . . . Scored a season-high 35 points on 15-of-29 shooting at Fullerton College . . . Rebounding total led Saddleback and ranked fifth in the Orange Empire Conference . . . Enjoyed a standout prep career at Horizon Christian Academy in San Diego, earning second team CIF Division V All-State honors . . . Concluded career as the Panthers' all-time leading scorer with 1,927 points and totaled 962 rebounds.

"Janae has great hands and quick feet. She is big on the block but can hit the three. She is a versatile post player who can play with her back to the basket or facing the hoop. Jane has experience in the college game and will have an immediate impact on our team. The experience she gained playing in the toughest junior college conference in California will be an asset for us, especially on the defensive end."
 
All eight players will enroll at Kennesaw State in the fall.
