BRASELTON, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team was rewarded for a successful regular season that included seven top five finishes, including two team titles, as three players earned All-ASUN Conference honors and Connor Coffee shared Freshman of the Year accolades following a vote of the league's coaches.
 
Additionally, sophomore Jake Fendt and senior Teremoana Beaucousin were voted to the ASUN Conference All-Academic Team. The awards were announced Saturday evening during a pre-championships tournament banquet that included the men's and women's teams.
 
"It's an honor receiving all-conference team recognition as these guys have shown throughout the year that their consistent play is worthy on the conference and national stage," head coach Bryant Odom said. "All-Academic notoriety is another feather in the cap for these student-athletes. Golfers miss more class than any other group of student-athletes, but remain exemplary in their dedication to academics and completing their degree with the highest grades possible."
 
Fendt, Beaucousin and senior Christopher Guglielmo were named second team all-conference, while Coffee was selected to the all-freshman team and shared Freshman of the Year honors with North Florida's Michael Mattaiace.
 
David Wicks of Jacksonville and Lipscomb's Dawson Armstrong were tabbed Co-Players of the Year, while Will Brewer of Lipscomb was voted Coach of the Year.
 
Beaucousin received all-conference recognition for the third time in his career, while Guglielmo was honored for the second straight year. Fendt is a first time honoree after being voted to the all-freshman team in 2016.
 
Coffee becomes the second Kennesaw State player to earn the Freshman of the Year title, joining Beaucousin who earned the accolade in 2014.
 
Beaucousin has a 72.39 scoring average after competing in 10 events. He has posted six top 20 finishes, including three top 10s, 13 rounds of par or better, three rounds in the and ha 60s and seven under-par rounds. His best showing came at the Pinetree Intercollegiate where he tied for sixth.
 
Fendt has played 28 rounds and has a 72.25 stroke average. He has four top 20 showings, including two Top 10s. The KSU sophomore claimed individual medalist honors for the first time at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships following rounds of 68-69 for a 36-hole total of 7-under par 137. Fendt has 13 rounds at par or better, including six rounds in the 60s and 11 rounds at under par.
 
Guglielmo has recorded a 72.45 while playing 31 rounds He has five top 20 finishes, including four top 10s, in 11 events. The Cumming, Ga. native has recorded 16 rounds at par or better, including eight in the 60s, and 11 at under par. The Owls' senior has four top five finishes leads KSU with his best showing was a tie for first at the Old Waverly Collegiate. He has shot a career-best 65 three times and placed as KSU's top finisher on five occasions.
 
In 28 rounds, Coffee has recorded a 72.57. He has four top 10 showings in 10 events, including a win at the Steelwood Intercollegiate. The Owls' freshman has produced 12 rounds at par or better, eight under par rounds and four scores in the 60s. Coffee has finished three tournaments at under par and has placed in the top five in each event.
 
Beaucousin has maintained a 3.48 grade-point average as a business finance major, while Fendt, a sport management major, has kept a 3.69 GPA. Both individuals are first-time all-academic honorees.
 
The Owls will now turn their attention to the ASUN Conference Championships that open Sunday (April 16) at Chateau Elan in Braselton, Ga. Kennesaw State enters the event as the defending champion after winning the title in 2016.
