KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's Dayo Akindele and Jocselyn Powell collected ASUN Conference Outdoor Track and Field weekly awards following their performance at the Florida Relays the conference announced Wednesday.

Akindele was named ASUN Men's Field Athlete of the Week. He won the long jump with a leap of 7.40m (24'3.5) at Florida Relays. That jump tied him with Andre Dorsey for the third-farthest in program history. That jump ranks tops in the ASUN and 20th in the NCAA East Region this season. The sophomore finished sixth among collegiate athletes in the triple jump with a leap of 15.24m (50'0.00). That jump leads the ASUN and ranks 19th best in the NCAA East Region this season.

"It's always fun to be a champion at one of the biggest meets of the year, so I'm happy Dayo gets to enjoy that experience," Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Andy Eggerth said.

Powell was named ASUN Women's Track Athlete of the Week. She finished fifth in the 400m hurdles with a new school-record time of 58.14 seconds. That time currently leads the ASUN and is ninth-best in the NCAA East Region. The junior also ran a time of 13.64 seconds in the 100m hurdles. That time is the best in the ASUN and 26th in the NCAA East Region this season. The Columbus, Ohio native, ran a leg on the 4x100m short hurdle relay team that set a school record and the 4x400m relay team that set the school record and conference-leading mark with a time of 3:42.79.

"Jocselyn is highly motivated and working very hard, so to claim two hurdle school records is no surprise. She and Coach (Josh) Campbell make a great coach-athlete team. It was pretty awesome to see her break her own school record in her very first 400 hurdle race of the season," Eggerth said.

The Owls will return to action Saturday, April 8 at the North Florida Invitational at Hodges Stadium.
