NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sophomore
Jessie Mullen's outstanding play at the ASUN Softball Championship earned her a spot on the all-tournament team that was announced following Saturday's title game.
Â
Mullen got the Owls off to a solid start in the championship as she hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning that gave Kennesaw State a dramatic 2-1, extra-inning victory over North Florida on Thursday.
Â
She homered again in a 5-4 loss to eventual-champion USC Upstate later in the day and finished the tournament with a .444 average (4-for-9), scored three runs, hit a pair of home runs and collected three RBIs while recording a 1.111 slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage. She also hit safely in all three games.
Â
Kennesaw State (36-18) is now awaiting Sunday's selection of the NCAA Tournament field to see if it receives an at-large bid. The entire 64-team field will be announced live on ESPN 2 at 10 p.m. (ET).Â
