Courtney Sutter was honored for her play last week by being named the ASUN Conference Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday (May 2). It marks the third time this season she has been honored.
Sutter capped an outstanding regular-season with a solid week against Georgia Tech and Lipscomb. In four games, the Owls' catcher batted .357 (5-for-14) with four runs scored, a double, two home runs and five RBIs while posting an .857 slugging percentage and .435 on-base percentage.
During a three-game series sweep at Lipscomb, Sutter hit .444 (4-for-9) with four runs scored, a double, two home runs and five RBIs. She went 4-for-7 with three runs scored, a double, two home runs and five RBIs during Saturday's doubleheader. After that solid outing, Lipscomb intentionally walked her twice on Sunday.
Sutter finished the regular season batting .381 with 11 doubles, a triple, 13 home runs and 47 RBIs, while slugging at a .716 clip and posting a .452 on-base percentage. She tops the ASUN Conference in home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage and total bases.
The Owls, who have a bye this week, return to action on Thursday, May 11, when they open play in the ASUN Conference Softball Championship at Lipscomb's Draper Diamond in Nashville, Tenn. Kennesaw State enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed and will have a first-round bye.
