SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Kennesaw State completed preparations for the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships with a practice round Thursday at Rich Harvest Farms (72, 7,300-yards) in Sugar Grove, Ill.

Thursday got underway with a breakfast at Rich Harvest Farms before all 30 teams took to the course for a shotgun start with the Owls beginning play on the 15th hole. Head coach Bryant Odom, and the entire team, had a favorable impression of the course, are looking forward to competing on it, and confident of playing well.

"The course is in the best shape you could ask for and it's going to be a really good test," senior Christopher Guglielmo said. "But the guys are looking good and they're pretty confident after finishing second at regionals with the quality of teams that were there."

Head coach Bryant Odom conveyed similar thoughts, saying: "The biggest challenge is we don't know the course very well and that is the case for pretty much every team here. The guys were really relaxed today in the practice round, they're confident, and playing well after finishing second at regionals against teams that were ranked ahead of us. It was great for their confidence and they feel like we belong here and it shows."
 
The national championships begin Friday (May 26) with 54 holes of stroke play covering three days. The top 15 teams will advance to Monday (May 29) for 18 holes of stroke play with the top eight advancing to match play beginning Tuesday (May 30). The championship match is scheduled for Wednesday (May 31).
  
The Owls, who are seeded No. 25 in the 30-team event, are grouped with Purdue and Jacksonville and will tee off from the first tee beginning at 9:02 a.m. (ET).  The Three teams will start their second round on Saturday (May 27) from the 10th tee beginning at 2:22 p.m. (ET).

Kennesaw State is appearing in its third NCAA Championships after making visits to the finals in 2011 and 2014 where they finished 26th on both occasions.
