ON DECK

  1. Kennesaw State enters the week with a 19-25 overall record, and sit at 11-18 overall in non-conference games. The Owls are 7-13 at Stillwell Stadium in those non-conference games.
  2. The Black and Gold have liked to start quickly in their non-conference games, outscoring teams 52-28 over the first two innings. Kennesaw State is 8-5 when scoring in the first frame, and 8-7 overall when scoring first in non-conference games.
  3. The Owls are batting .292 in 26 games, out-hitting opponents 258-221 totaling 54 doubles, seven triple, 24 home runs and 145 RBI. KSU is 9-3 overall at Stillwell Stadium when out-hitting an opponent.
  4. Junior first baseman Austin Upshaw has been hot at the plate over his last seven games, totaling a team-leading 14 hits, seven RBI, three doubles and a .519 batting average. He is currently on a seven-game hitting streak.
  5. Freshman Garrett Hodges has found his way at the plate, totaling his best seven-game stretch in his first season with the Black and Gold. He has totaled eight hits, five RBI, three doubles and a HR, while batting .364 during a seven-game hitting streak.
  6. Junior second baseman Grant Williams leads the team with 56 hits, with 19 games with two hits and four games with three hits, leading the Owls with 19 multi-hit games. He is averaging a strikeout per every 12th AB, ranking fourth in the ASUN.
  7.  Taylor Allum continues to lead the ASUN Conference with 12 home runs, which has him ranked 35th in the country. The junior is four long balls shy of breaking Kennesaw State's single-season record of 15 HR set by Andy Chriscaden (2011).
  8. Head Coach Mike Sansing is the reigning ASUN Coach of the Year, winning his first honors since Kennesaw State joined the ASUN in 2006. He is the second-youngest coach on the 1,000-win list, and is one of 13 active coaches with 1,000 victories who have coaches at least 10 seasons of D-I baseball.
  9. The skipper won his 950th game Thursday (March 16) at Western Carolina, taking a 12-3 non-conference tilt at Hennon Stadium. The win also snapped a three-game losing skid in Cullowhee, N.C. Sansing now sits 40 wins away from winning his 1,000th career game in the Black and Gold uniform.
