COMPLETE RELEASE FROM SVG

KENNESAW, Ga. -- The Owl Network staff in the Kennesaw State Department of Athletics has been a named a finalist for a pair of 2017 Sports Video Group/NACDA College Sports Media Awards.
 
The videos are two football-related productions from this past season -- a highlight package from Kennesaw State's win over Point, and the hype video in advance of the game versus Liberty. (Click the links to view each video.)
 
Both videos are in the "Collegiate Student" categories, meaning students contributed to at least 80 percent of the video's overall product. Matt Sims and Amy Emery are the full-time video producers for the Owl Network and oversee a staff of talented students and freelancers. KSU student Michael Catron created and edited both videos that are among the finalists.
 
"This year's College Sports Media Awards Finalists represent an ever-rising bar of excellence in the college sports production industry," says Tom Buffolano, Chairman of the SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards. "What stands out the most is the ascendancy of "new" schools to Finalist status, like Monmouth or Kennesaw State, to name only a few. The competitive pool keeps getting deeper and college productions must become more creative in the way they tell a story, whether it is a live game or profile. The proliferation of coverage of events like Signing Day showcase the growing fan interest in all things college sports."
 
The Point game story video is a finalist along with videos by Florida State, Youngstown State, Ball State, SUNY Oswego, and Palm Beach Atlantic. The Liberty game hype video is a contender, along with videos by South Carolina, Harvard, East Carolina, Ball State, and St. Cloud State.
 
The Owl Network staff produces live events for Kennesaw State Athletics that air on ESPN3, Peachtree TV, and ASUN.TV. Additionally, the staff is responsible for creating and editing feature videos, highlights, and hype videos to help tell the KSU Athletics story.
 
Winners of the SVG Awards will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the 9^th Annual College Sports Media Awards ceremony on June 1 at the SVG College Sports Summit at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in downtown Atlanta. The event will be hosted by ESPN's Tom Rinaldi.
