WTRK: Gray Recaps Her Strong 2017 Outdoor Season

KENNESAW, Ga. –
Jordan Gray of the Kennesaw State women's track and field team recently wrapped up a very strong redshirt sophomore outdoor track and field season.

During the outdoor season, the Ball Ground, Ga. native;
  • Competed in nine meets including six heptathlons.
  • Collected two wins and finished no worse than 13th in six heptathlons.
  • Set heptathlon school records for points, 100m hurdles, shot put, 200m, long jump and javelin.
  • Set both the long jump and wind-aided long jump school records.
  • Won the heptathlon at the Joe Walker Invitational scoring 5377 points.
  • Won all seven heptathlon events in route to a win at the ASUN Championships.
  • Set the ASUN Championship heptathlon record in points, shot put and javelin.
  • 5641 points in the heptathlon at the ASUN Championships were a school record and ASUN Championships record.
  • The 5641 points was good for 14th best in the country during regular season and qualified her for the finals of the heptathlon at the NCAA Championships
  • Set the school record in the heptathlon in the long jump with a leap of 6.12m (20'1.00) which qualified her for the NCAA Championships.
  • Finished seventh in the final of the heptathlon at the NCAA Championships scoring 5621 points.
  • Set the heptathlon school record in the javelin with a toss of 39.97m (131'01").  
  • Became the first Owl to earn First Team All-America Honors at the NCAA Championships with her finish in the heptathlon.
  • Finished 13th in the heptathlon at the USATF Track and Field Championships scoring 5460 points.
  • Closed her season finishing fifth at the IAAF Capital Cup scoring 5582 points.

Gray and the Owls have begun preparing for the 2018 track and field season which will begin in January of 2018.
