 Race Preview
The Kennesaw State Cross Country teams will continue their 2017 season in Cartersville, Georgia as it hosts the Stan Sims Invitational on Friday, September 8.

KSU will be hosting its first meet since the KSU Owl Invitational in 2009.
 
The meet is named after former KSU cross country head coach Stan Sims who led the program from 1994-2010. In 16 seasons, Sims led Kennesaw State to 22 conference titles (19 Peach Belt titles, 3 A-Sun titles).  The Owls won 10 women's championships and 12 men's titles. He was named conference coach of the year 15 times (13 in Peach Belt, 2 in A-Sun) including men's conference coach of the year eight times and women's conference coach of the year seven times. He coached two individual national champions, 35 individual conference champions and had five runners finish in the Top 10 at nationals. 16 of his athletes earned All-American honors. Sims was inducted into the Kennesaw State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016.
  
Per NCAA rules, the meet will be scored in divisions.  
 
The Owls will compete against Dalton State (W), Georgia State (W) Jacksonville St. (M/W),
Lipscomb (M/W), North Alabama (M/W), Reinhardt (M/W) Shorter (M/W),Stetson (M/W),West Georgia (M/W).
 
The women's 5k race will begin at 6 p.m. The men's 8k race is scheduled to start at 6:45 p.m.
 
Owls Open Season at JSU Struts Season Opener
The Kennesaw State cross country teams opened their season on Friday, September 1 at the Oxford Lake and Recreation Area. Nine athletes competed for KSU as the women's team took fourth place among Division 1 schools.
 

KSU Team Notes
- Jordan Hand's time of 16:04.00 was his personal-best time in a 5k cross country meet.

- Four Owls Brooke Aumer, Katie Meyer, Ben Patterson and Chase Kennedy made their KSU debut last Friday evening.

- The JSU Struts Season Opener was the first time that Patterson and Farrell have been the Owls top finishers in a meet.


Next Up
The Owls will return to action Saturday, September 16 at the Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tenn.
