The Kennesaw State men's and women's track teams opened the indoor track season at the Gene Edmonds Open at Lambert Fieldhouse on Saturday, January 13.
School Record Performances
- Erica Sergeant set the school record in the pole vault clearing 3.96m (12'11.75) to win the event.
Personal Best Performances
- Nia Seldon took second in the weight throw with a toss of 18.18m (59'7.75).
- Quan Grady recorded a toss of 15.47m (50'9.75) in the men's weight throw.
- Paris Williams had his indoor-best jump of 1.92m (6'3.5) in the high jump.
- Abigail Chanase jumped her indoor season-best 11.55m (37'10.75) to finish sixth in the triple jump.
- Qwazon Al-Khaliq landed his indoor personal-best jump of 13.78m (45'2.5) in the triple jump.
- Chuck McConville threw his indoor-best throw of 15.59m in the shot put with a toss of 15.59m (51'1.75) to finish third amongst collegiate athletes.
- Drew Anderson had an indoor-best toss of 14.57m (49'9.75) in the shot put.
Event Wins
- Dayo Akindele won the triple jump with a leap of 15.07m (49'5.5).
- Akindele was the top collegiate in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.08 seconds.
- Jocselyn Powell was the top collegiate in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.43 seconds.

"We had some nice PR's today; highlighted by Nia's huge improvement in the weight throw and Erica's school record in the Pole Vault. We posted many conference-leading performances, so there is a lot to be positive about. At the same time, we were able to do some problem solving, seeing several areas that we need to step up our game. I am confident that we will rise to the challenge through our daily efforts."
