KENNESAW, Ga. – The ASUN Conference announced its lacrosse Preseason All-Conference Team on Thursday, January 25 and Kennesaw State had two student-athletes on the team.
Haley Swift and
Connor Zophy were both voted onto the ASUN Preseason All-Conference team for the first time in their careers after having strong 2017 seasons.
"Connor and Haley both had great seasons last spring," head coach
Laura Maness said. "I look forward to them coming back even stronger this spring and being major factors on our offensive end."
Swift was one of five student-athletes that were voted on unanimously. During the 2017 season, she led the team with 66 points finishing with 37 goals and 29 assists. The junior also won 29 draw controls and picked up 24 ground balls. Her best performance came on the road at Detroit, where she had 10 points with six goals and four assists. She had 11 multi-goal games this season and seven multi-assist games last year.
Zophy was also a juggernaut on the offensive end as she played in all 17 games and finished third in points with 29 goals and 26 assists. She set career highs across the board with 29 goals and 26 assists as well as the 55 points. Zophy scored multiple goals in eight games with a career high of seven goals against Gardner Webb.
The ASUN coaches voted Kennesaw State to finish fourth in the league this season after KSU finished with an 8-9 record a season ago. That marked the most wins in program history.
There was also a fan vote and the Owls fans rose to the occasion voting
Maura Palandro the Fan Voted ASUN Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
The Owls begin their season with two games on the opening weekend. On Friday, February 9, the team will play Arizona State in their first game as a program. Then, Kennesaw State will host Vanderbilt on Sunday, February 11. Both of those games are at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
