KENNESAW, Ga. – Hailey Andrews and Alley Cutting turned in impressive outings in the circle and Katey Lynch and Patricia Awald provided the power to lead the Kennesaw State softball team to a pair of wins during the second day of the Bobbie Bailey Memorial Tournament Saturday at Bailey Park.

The Owls (4-5) defeated Florida A&M, 6-1, in the opener and blanked Morehead State, 4-0, in the nightcap.

Backed by home runs from Lynch and Awald, Andrews (1-0) limited Florida A&M (5-10) to six hits and a run, while striking out nine in a complete-game effort.

Kennesaw State took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Awald opened the frame with a double and Lynch followed with a two-run home run over the left-center field fence. The Owls added to their lead in the third, with Awald connecting for a two-run homer to highlight a three-run inning.

Awald finished the game 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Lynch went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Lynch and Olivia Tamewitz combined for four of Kennesaw State's nine hits in support Cutting, who allowed five hits and struck out seven versus Morehead State.

The Owls scored single runs in each of the first three innings and tacked on an insurance run in the sixth inning. Maddie Roth, Awald, Noelle Winkles and Lauren Bennett had RBIs.

Lynch finished the day 4-for-5 with two runs scored, two RBIs, a triple and home run, while Awald went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Tamewitz has three hits and three runs scored.

Tournament action concludes on Sunday with Kennesaw State scheduled to host Florida A&M at 12:30 p.m.
