What a great day. We talk about being the first here at Kennesaw State and today is a historic day. This started a few months back with just six of us on staff. We wanted men of character and that’s what we started this journey with and that’s culminated today with our 29 signees.
 
I call this the best kept secret in the south and that’s a credit to our administration. That leadership makes an institution and I can’t thank Vaughn Williams and Dr. Papp enough.
 
I knew what was here at Kennesaw State, but when I went out in the community what surprised me the most was how excited the community was for Kennesaw State and its football program. There are so many positives going on and the kids see that as well.
 
We went on a journey to sign 25-30 young men to be a part of the first signing class at Kennesaw State and today we signed 29 men. Those 29 men hit all of our characteristics that we wanted and they’re not just the first class, but a very talented and impressive class as well.
 
Our staff has worked hard and I’m awfully proud of them, and this is only the beginning. I’m honored and blessed to be the head football coach here and to work with these great people. The excitement from our young people is infectious and the excitement from our staff is infectious.
 
The emphasis for us was to get as much depth as possible on the line of scrimmage. Those are the positions that take a little more time to develop and we wanted to get them in here. When it comes down to it, the guys in the trenches are what matter most and I’m excited for the guys we brought in on that front.
 
This is a five year plan. We want to build things the right way and really set a foundation for us to grow on.
 
We wanted a dual threat quarterback, that’s no doubt. In any offense the quarterback is the guy that makes you go and the three we got are outstanding. We couldn’t have done any better. They’re not just three good players, but three quality kids and three leaders.
 
This is the culmination for a lot of hard work. I give credit to my staff because this really is a team effort. I want to praise these guys a bunch because this is all credited to their hard work.
 
Georgia is home base and that will never change here. We are going to cover the state of Georgia. That’s what we set out to do and that’s what we did, 26 of the 29 in state.
 
We want to be fast and athletic in every position. And everything we do is going to revolve around that and getting the best athletes on the field.
 
Jaquez Parks is a heck of a player. 15-0 with a state championship. It’s a great get for us, there’s no doubt, but so were the other 28. I love every one of them and I’m excited for every one of them.
 
We’re going to develop these kids the first year. Not just develop them on the field, but also off the field and academically. The way we’re set up, we’re really going to be able to get these guys off to a good start.
