KENNESAW, Ga.-- The Owls return to action this week when they travel to Austin, TX, to compete in the Challenge at Onion Creek, hosted by Texas State University on November 2-3.

"This tournament is a great way to finish out the most successful fall season this program has ever had," Head Coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "The field features six teams (Texas, Missouri, Iowa State, Nebraska, Indiana, and Wisconsin) ranked near the top 50 in the nation so it is a great opportunity for the team to again prove they can compete with the best."

The tournament, the final of the Owls’ fall season, will take place on the par 70, 5,937-yard Onion Creek Golf Club.

In addition to Texas State, the field of 21 competitors will include Augusta State, Baylor, Boise State, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, San Francisco, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UALR, UTSA, Washington State, and Wisconsin.

For Brinsmead, the event will also represent a homecoming, as the former Bobcat prepares to lead the Owls at a tournament hosted by a team she previously coached and played for. At Texas State Brinsmead was a four year letter winner and two time team captain, before serving as an Assistant Coach.

"I am very excited to return back to the Austin area, to where I played my college golf," Brinsmead said. "I know from personal experience what a fantastic golf course Onion Creek is. I am expecting another great team effort from all players and a successful conclusion to our fall season."

The event is set to begin on Monday with a 7:30 shotgun start followed by 36 holes, and will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18.
