KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women’s tennis head coach Brandon Padgett has announced the Owls 2009-10 women’s schedule in an announcement made this week.
“I am excited about the level of competition on the women's schedule this year,” Padgett said. “We continue to try and raise the level of competition, each and every year.”
The fall schedule for the Owls begins at Auburn-Montgomery on Sept. 11-13 and Kennesaw State will stay in the state of Alabama as they will participate at the Troy Fall Event on Sept. 25-27.
On Oct. 2-4, the Owls will play in the Tennessee-Chattanooga fall event before a three-week break as they prepare for the ITA Southeast Regionals in Atlanta, Ga. The Black and Gold will host its first-ever fall event as the Kennesaw State Invitational takes place on Oct. 30 at the KSU Tennis Complex.
The Owls will open up their spring schedule at Memphis on Jan. 29, before playing Murray State the following day.
“We play the majority of our matches on the road this year, which will severely test the emotional, mental, and physical strength of our extremely young team,” added Padgett. “If we can handle this difficult schedule, then perhaps we will be able to find a way to attract even stronger opponents for the following year.”
The Owls season-starting seven match road trip continues in Dayton, Ohio when they face Wright State and Dayton before they head to Alabama to play UAB, Alabama State and Alabama A&M.
“I am excited about the opportunity to play so close to my hometown of Cincinnati, as we travel to play Wright State and the University of Dayton,” Padgett said.
Three consecutive non-conference home matches begin with a meeting against Presbyterian on Feb. 17 before the Owls play North Carolina Central and Savannah State on Feb. 21 at the KSU Tennis Complex. The owls also host troy on Mar. 2 in the final non-conference home match of the year.
The Atlantic Sun Conference season opens up on Feb. 26 with a trip to Campbell while the conference home opener sees the Black and Gold facing North Florida on Mar. 19. With a battle against Jacksonville slated for the following day.
