Owls recruiting class ranked for second time in three years

6/11/2010 10:21:16 AM

KENNESAW, Ga. - For the second time in three years, Kennesaw State head women's tennis coach, Brandon Padgett, has seen his recruiting efforts recognized nationally as Tennisrecruiting.net. ranked the Owls recruiting class No. 24 amongst mid-majors by the leading recruiting site for junior tennis players.

Alexandra Apostu, the Owls lone signee for the Class of 2010, has been ranked as high as No. 16 in her native Romania in the junior division.  Her exceptional achievements as a junior player were enough to land the Owls' class in the annual rankings of schools outside the BCS conferences and the Ivy League.

"I am excited that we were able to once again be recognized for our recruiting," indicated Padgett. "Alexandra will bring a whole new level of intensity that we need, and we are pleased to have her join our tennis family."

This marks the second time that the Owls have been recognized for their recruiting class. The women were ranked No. 22 amongst mid-majors in 2008, in the class that included current Owls Vera Shkundina, Morgan Carney, and Mackenzie Swindall.
