Women's 2010-11 Golf Schedule Released

Will once again host Kinderlou Forest Challenge

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State Owls women’s golf coach Rhyll Brinsmead announced her squad’s 2010-11 schedule on Wednesday. The Black and Gold will compete in nine tournaments this season , leading up to the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship at Victoria Hills Golf Club in DeLand, Fla.

The Owls, who finished second in last year’s A-Sun Championship, are primed for another strong year. Led by rising sophomore Ket Preamchuen, who set a new program record in 2009-10 with a stroke average of 74.7 on her way to All A-Sun First Team and A-Sun All-Freshman honors, they return four players from last year.

“I am very excited to get the season underway and to see the team compete in all of these great events,” Brinsmead said.  “Our schedule features some of the best tournaments in the nation at some of the best golf courses in the nation.  We will be competing against some of the strongest competition we have ever come up against. This year’s schedule is a culmination of the development of the program. It is a testament to the hard work the team put forth last year and the ensuing results.”

The squad’s fall season commences Sept. 11 at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., followed by stops in Tulsa, Okla., Oct. 11-13 for the Dale McNamara Invitational, Kiawah Island, S.C., Oct. 25-26 for the Palmetto Invitational and Austin, Texas for the Challenge at Onion Creek, Nov. 1-2, to conclude the fall schedule. Preamchuen shot a 66 in the second round of the 2009 Challenge at Onion Creek to set a program record for 18 holes.

Brinsmead’s squad will be back in action continues Feb. 13 when they travel to Orlando for the UCF Challenge before hosting  the Kinderlou Forest Challenge for the second straight season at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club beginning Feb. 27.

The back end of the schedule includes the Barefoot at the Beach Invitational in Myrtle Beach, Mar. 6-8, followed by a return trip to the Eagle Landing Invite in Jacksonville, Fla., Mar. 11-13, where the team finished second last season behind strong performances from returnees Patricia Arana (t-7th) and Abby Fitzgerald (t-11th).

The regular season will conclude with a visit to the Liz Murphy Invitational in Athens, Ga., Apr. 1-3. They then travel to DeLand for the A-Sun Championship, which begins Apr. 11.

Aside from returnees Arana, Fitzgerald, Preamchuen and Molly Winnett, the Owls will also welcome newcomers Hayley Clinning and Lindsay Adams to the program.
