DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Kennesaw State Owls Ket Preamchuen and Abby Fitzgerald rebounded from a disappointing first day at the Hooters Women's Collegiate Team Championship, firing a 4-under par 68 in the second round, which was conducted in a Best Ball format.
The duo recorded two birdies apiece on Wednesday, as each player played their own ball in this format, but only the lowest score of each pair counted towards the total.
The pair disqualified themselves from the team portion of this week's Hooter's Women's Collegiate Team Championship, signing for a six on a hole when they made a seven during Tuesday's first round, which was played in an alternate shot format.
The duo originally posted a score of 4-over par 76 in the first round of the event being conducted at the
Achasta By Reynolds course in Dahlonega, Ga. After double-checking their scorecard, however, they realized that they had actually shot a 5-over par 77 and, once they found their error, immediately informed tournament officials.
The final round of the event on Wednesay will be stroke play format, with the two players totals added together for the team score portion of the event. The event includes 53 teams of collegiate players, 41 of them coming from NCAA Division I programs. Currently the duo from Alabama hold a one stoke lead over the teams from Wake Forest and Virginia.
