Will compete in their first tournament beginning Sept. 11

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women’s golf began preparation for the upcoming season this past week, with practice starting last Friday. The Owls compete in four tournaments this fall.
Hitting the links in full stride, the Owls prepare for the start of their fall season, with head coach Rhyll Brinsmead’s squad playing three qualifying tournaments amongst their squad to set the lineup for their first event, the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., which takes place Sept. 11- 12.
Having developed into a nationally recognized program, the Black and Gold look to pick up right where they left of last season, as the team finished second at the Atlantic Sun Championship at the Venetian Bay Golf Club in New Smyrna Beach, Fl. after going into the final round with the lead. Entering her fourth campaign as the head coach for the Owls, Brinsmead welcomes back four starters from the 2009-10 season.
Headlining the list of returnees are All-Atlantic Sun Conference honoree, sophomore Ket Preamchuen, as well as senior Abby Fitzgerald, junior Patricia Arana and sophomore Molly Winnett. Also joining the squad this fall are freshmen Hayley Clinning and Lindsay Adams, the Atlanta Journal Constitution Girl’s Golfer of the Year.
"We are very excited to get the season underway. This group of players is by far the strongest we have had in the history of the program," Brinsmead said. "I am anxious to get started and see the results this team can achieve. The Black and Gold will practice five days a week at one of their four home courses. Kennesaw State’s golf programs have partnered with four local golf clubs in which the teams are able to practice.
