TAMPA, Fla. – Junior
Alexandra Apostu notched a first round singles victory, before teaming with sophomore
Virginie Stein to win in the pair’s opening match for the Kennesaw State women’s tennis team at the ITA Regionals, hosted on the campus of South Florida.
Apostu defeated Miami’s Brittany Dubins, 6-2, 6-2, in the opening round of singles action. She then fell in round two to Florida’s Danielle Collins, 6-1, 6-2.
Stein dropped her opening singles match, but will be back in action Saturday in the singles back draw, starting at 9 a.m.
In doubles play, Apostu and Stein posted an opening round 9-7 win over Miami’s Melissa Bolivar and Stephanie Wagner, and will continue their run in the doubles main draw Saturday.
