SATURDAY RESULTS
MARIETTA, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team completed its fall season on Saturday at the Kennesaw State Fall Classic, held at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center.
Freshmen
Isabela Castro (Brazil/ Santa Doroteia) and
Blaire LaSure (Evans, Ga./Greenbrier HS) each won in their final singles matches of the tournament, with Castro earning a 7-6, 6-4 win in the Scrappy draw consolation final. LaSure posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Western Carolina’s Erin Maguire for the Owls.
Junior
Alexandra Apostu (Bucharest, Romania/ Ion Barbu) and senior
Therese Lagerkvist (Koping, Sweden/ Adalsskolan) each fell in their main draw finals as Apostu was defeated in the Black draw final, 6-4, 6-1 to Georgia Southern’s Paola Garrido and Lagerkvist dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to GSU’s Stephi Woods in the Gold Draw final.
Sophomore
Jana Hueckinghaus (Gevelsberg, Germany / Gymnasium Gevelsberg) and sophomore
Tamara Plocher (Cologne, Germany / Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium) both dropped their final singles matches to round out the Owls.
In doubles action, the tandems of Hueckinghaus and Plocher and Lagerkvist and LaSure split their two matches on the day, with the team of Apostu and Castro fell twice for the Owls.
The KSU women’s tennis team opens the spring season on Jan. 25 at Chattanooga.
