KENNESAW, Ga. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has honored the Kennesaw State women’s tennis team as an ITA All-Academic Team, while also naming three KSU student-athletes as 2012 ITA Scholar-Athletes.

Junior Kelsey Kennedy and freshmen Jana Hueckinghaus and Tamara Plocher earned ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades.  It is the first such award for all three student-athletes.

KSU previously was awarded ITA All-Academic Team honors in 2009 and is one of 112 women’s teams named in the nation, while the Atlantic Sun Conference had three teams qualify in Florida Golf Coast, Kennesaw State and Stetson.

To be recognized for the team award, all student-athletes appearing on a roster must compete in at least one match and have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).  To be named as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, players must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their current institution for at least two semesters.
