KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team opens the 2012 fall season at the Auburn Fall Invitational, hosted by Auburn at the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn, Ala. The tournament is slated to run from Friday, Sept. 7 to Saturday, Sept. 8.
“Everyone is practicing hard and training well,” said Head Coach
Jeffery Kutac. “Our new players are working in great. The team is definitely ready to go play different competition other than each other. The level of play is going to be where it needs to be, we just have to fight and compete this weekend. I’m excited to see what our players can do this weekend and to keep getting better.”
Along with the Owls, the tournament features participants from nine other schools, including Auburn, Mississippi State, Tulane, Northwestern State, Lamar, Houston, Georgia Southern, UT Chattanooga, and Louisiana-Lafayette.
There will be seven to eight flights that begin play at 9 a.m. ET throughout the tournament, with two rounds of singles and one round of doubles on Friday, followed by one round of singles and two rounds of doubles on Saturday.
Senior
Therese Lagerkvist (Koping, Sweden/ Adalsskolan), along with junior
Alexandra Apostu (Bucharest, Romania/ Ion Barbu) and sophomores
Jana Hueckinghaus (Gevelsberg, Germany/ Gymnasium Gevelsberg),
Virginie Stein (Gevelsberg, Germany/ Gymnasium Gevelsberg) are set to participate in the event, while freshmen
Blaire LaSure (Evans, Ga./Greenbrier HS) and
Isabela Castro (Brazil/ Santa Doroteia) will be making their Kennesaw State debut at the Invitation.
