A-SUN RELEASE

MACON, Ga. – With a 4-0, complete game shutout win over the Stetson Hatters this past Saturday, Kennesaw State starting pitcher Kevin Kyle was named the Atlantic Sun Conference’s Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

The award is the first for the senior Kyle who allowed just four hits to the Stetson batters while striking out three and not allowing a single walk after facing the minimum in his final eight innings of work.

“It’s a great honor for him and our program,” said Kennesaw State head coach Mike Sansing. “He pitched an outstanding game, probably one of the best pitched games we’ve seen this season. You don’t see too many complete games with only 104 pitches thrown. Our defense did a great job behind him on Saturday as well to get us the win.”

The Atlanta, Ga. native lowered his ERA to 2.40 on the year while picking up his fourth straight victory on the mound, improving his overall record to 5-2. Opposing batters are now hitting just .223 off of the lefty who forced 17 ground balls during the series clinching win.

Kyle, along with the rest of the Owls, will be back on the field this Tuesday, April 2 when the Bulldogs of Georgia come to Stillwell Stadium for a 6 p.m. ET matchup.
