Mette Kryger Pedersen (Nivaa, Denmark) has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday (Apr. 9).
Pedersen, who transferred to Kennesaw State in January, had a career-day at the Rebel Intercollegiate that concluded on Sunday (Apr. 6). The Denmark native tied for fourth with a 1-under par score of 215 after shooting rounds of 73-72-70.
The Owls' junior recorded nine birdies over her final two rounds, including five in the third round. Pedersen, who established career-bests for finish (T4th), 54-hole score (215), 36-hole score (144) and 18-hole score (70), finished five shots behind GRU Augusta's Jessica Haigwood who claimed individual medalist honors with a 6-under par total of 210.
Pedersen's efforts helped Kennesaw State to a season-best tying second place finish at the 18-team event. The Owls, who recorded a 10-over par 874, finished second to No. 32 GRU Augusta State, which topped the field with a 7-over par 871.
Pedersen's selection marks the fifth time this season that a Kennesaw State women's golfer has been recognized by the A-Sun Conference.
Kennesaw State is next in action on Monday (Apr. 14) when it opens play at the A-Sun Conference Championships at Jekyll Island Golf Club in Jekyll Island, Ga.
