ITA ReleaseKENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic honors and three members of the squad were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes, the organization announced on Thursday (July 10).

Senior
Alexandra Apostu and juniors
Jana Hueckinghaus and
Virginie Stein were honored for their work in the classroom during the 2013-14 academic year.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CA JUCO eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2013 and spring 2014).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).

"I want to congratulate the team for its hard work no only on the court but in the classroom," head coach #Jeff Kutac said. "Earning ITA academic honors does not come without a lot of hard work, discipline and dedication to school work, and I am happy to see the team honored for its commitment and each individual understanding what it means to be a true student-athlete."
